FINANCIAL AID

The Financial Aid Department at DuVall’s consists of knowledgeable, qualified staff to work with you throughout the enrollment process to develop your personalized financial plan.

A financial plan may consist of cash payments, private funding sources, agency payments, Federal Student Aid, scholarships, or other sources of funding that may be available to a student. You may expect to meet with a member of the Financial Aid Department multiple times throughout your enrollment as well as during the initial application process.

What is Financial Aid?

Financial Aid is a form of financial assistance available to help with educational expenses. Federal student aid is available to students who qualify through the Title IV programs. To determine eligibility, begin by completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) at www.studentaid.gov.

Federal Pell Grant

Pell Grant is considered gift aid that does not require repayment.  The amount of grant is calculated by the Department of Education based off a student’s/family’s information reported on the FAFSA.

DIRECT LOANS

The Direct Loan Program provides loans to students to help pay for their education. Applicants may be eligible to receive more than one type of loan. Each loan has its own terms and conditions, but all are signature loans with no pre-payment penalty, and have multiple repayment plan choices with deferment and forebearance options.

DIRECT LOAN PROGRAM

  • DIRECT SUBSIDIZED LOAN

    • Need-based loan, determined by your FAFSA calculation
    • No credit check required
    • Interest is subsidized, or paid by the government, for the time you are enrolled in school
    • Fixed interest rate
    • A choice of repayment plans & no required payments while in school
  • DIRECT UNSUBSIDIZED LOAN

    • No credit check required
    • Fixed interest rate
    • Interest accrues monthly
    • A choice of repayment plans & no required payments while in school
  • DIRECT PARENT PLUS LOAN

    • Credit-based loan in the parent’s name
    • Parent may borrow any amount up to the student’s cost of attendance less any other financial aid
    • Fixed interest rate
    • A choice of repayment options
    • If the parent applies but does not qualify because of adverse credit, the student will automatically be eligible for an additional amount of the Direct Unsubsidized Loan.

Application fee is required to be paid prior to enrollment.

Cosmetology and Esthetics Students who have not previously held a permit with TDLR are also required to submit a $25.00 TDLR Student Permit Fee prior to enrollment.
